Our Picture Page
Showing you how much fun it is to attend a movie at our theatre!  After looking at these pictures, you will see why we say: "Magical Movie Moments under the Stars!"  Attending a movie at the theatre is more than just watching a movie-- it is a "memorable event".

We always welcome our patrons

driveinstamp.jpg

Here is a trivia question for you-- what was the most popular stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service that honored the 50's? It was the stamp shown above.  Citizens got to vote for their  favorite stamp, and the above stamp beat out ELVIS in popularity!

Austinandfriends.jpg

A couple of young patrons (Austin and his friends) waiting to see the movies

tailgating.jpg

Tailgating is part of the fun at our theatre-- it makes watching movies "Special" and according to Car and Driver Magazine (Jan 2010 issue) we also make Raleigh one of their "Top 10 Drivers Cities", by offering movies in a '50s tailgating atmosphere.

playground.jpg

Our playground is quite popular with our "younger patrons"

Guestprojectionist.jpg

For birthday patrons, you can be our "guest projectionist" and get your name and birthday announced so that all the cars give you a round of horns to help celebrate your birthday, but you also get to start the movies for the night.  Here two young birthday patrons are about to start the movies.

Here is our popcorn box on New Years Eve, 110 feet above the ground waiting for the chance to ring in the new year.  As you can see New Years Eve (December 31, 2009) was a foggy and misty night--that is why the screen image is dark and fuzzy.

duck.jpg

We love pets coming to the theatre.  We normally have dogs visit, but have had a goat and yes....the official spokesduck for ....lets all say it like he does. AFLAC!

lineofcarsatticketbooth.jpg

Lining up at the ticket booth for another night at the movies! On busy nights we use two lanes to handle the line up of cars.

bandonmoonglostage.jpg

We have live bands that play on our MOON-GLO Stage! --the stage was named for the orginal name of the theatre --Moon-glo. The theatre changed its' name in 1977 to Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre

burgersanddogs.jpg

We grill our burgers and hot dogs, just like a backyard cook out; which makes them extra GOOD! Our chef Billy Stevenson Sr. (pictured to the left)

charleshomemadeicecream.jpg

Our friend and fellow patron-- Charles Strickland brings his homemade ice cream to the theatre for patrons to enjoy several times during the spring, summer and fall seasons

popcornbox.jpg

This is the 7' tall popcorn box that we drop every year at Midnight to usher in the New Year on New Years Eve. We are the ONLY drive-in theatre in the world to hold a dedicated NEW YEARS EVE event and it is fast becoming a well attended event during the holiday season.   This box was built by Charles Strickland (the same person who does the home made ice cream!)

newyearsevetv.jpg

On New Years Eve, we tuned into ABC-11 to watch the Times Square Events as we were preparing to drop our own Popcorn box at midnight.  This image was projected on our movie screen!
