Here is a trivia question for you-- what was the most popular stamp
issued by the U.S. Postal Service that honored the 50's? It was the stamp shown above. Citizens got to vote for their
favorite stamp, and the above stamp beat out ELVIS in popularity!

Tailgating is part of the fun at our theatre-- it makes watching movies "Special"
and according to Car and Driver Magazine (Jan 2010 issue) we also make Raleigh one of their "Top 10 Drivers Cities",
by offering movies in a '50s tailgating atmosphere.
Our playground is quite popular with our "younger patrons"
For birthday patrons, you can be our "guest projectionist" and get your name and
birthday announced so that all the cars give you a round of horns to help celebrate your birthday, but you also get to start
the movies for the night. Here two young birthday patrons are about to start the movies.

Raleigh resident, but internationally known Magician Jim Passe' visited with us and performed
his famous magic show before show time.

Patrons like to come in costume for our annual "trunk n treat" Halloween
event. This patron spent hours creating his costume.

Here is our popcorn box on New Years Eve, 110 feet above the ground waiting for the chance
to ring in the new year. As you can see New Years Eve (December 31, 2009) was a foggy and misty night--that is why the
screen image is dark and fuzzy.
We love pets coming to the theatre. We normally have dogs visit, but have had
a goat and yes....the official spokesduck for ....lets all say it like he does. AFLAC!
Lining up at the ticket booth for another night at the movies! On busy nights we use two lanes
to handle the line up of cars.
We have live bands that play on our MOON-GLO Stage! --the stage was named for the orginal name
of the theatre --Moon-glo. The theatre changed its' name in 1977 to Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre

We grill our burgers and hot dogs, just like a backyard cook out; which makes them extra
GOOD! Our chef Billy Stevenson Sr. (pictured to the left)
Our friend and fellow patron-- Charles Strickland brings his homemade ice cream to the theatre
for patrons to enjoy several times during the spring, summer and fall seasons
This is the 7' tall popcorn box that we drop every year at Midnight to usher in the New
Year on New Years Eve. We are the ONLY drive-in theatre in the world to hold a dedicated NEW YEARS EVE event and it is fast
becoming a well attended event during the holiday season. This box was built by Charles Strickland (the same person
who does the home made ice cream!)
On New Years Eve, we tuned into ABC-11 to watch the Times Square Events as we were preparing
to drop our own Popcorn box at midnight. This image was projected on our movie screen!

As you can see we show first run movies even in the winter months! These two films were some
of the top movies during the Christmas Season 2009

We have several Boy and Girl Scouting events at the theatre each year. If you are
a scout troop, contact us about our package deals for scouts. The boy scouts even like to take in a night of movies
and camp!

The real C3PO and R2D2 (courtesy of Lucas Films) were present for a Star Wars event. Pictured with
them are the Robinson Family, regular patrons to our theatre
Darth Vader and other Star Wars Characters help some birthday children celebrate their birthdays by
starting the movies as part of our "Guest Projectionist" benefit for birthday guests
Special guests come to visit during the movie seasons-- Capt Jack pictured above visits during
Pirates of The Carribean movies. Other visitors include: Spiderman, Batman, Shrek, Indiana Jones, Storm Troopers
and Harry Potter charactrers. We also have seasonal visits from: Santa during Christmas and the Easter Bunny at Easter!
Just one of the many reasons attending a movie at our theatre is AN EVENT you will remember!

Dogs are always welcome to visit-- they sometimes come in costume for our events- this one

A couple times a year BOHO The Clown comes to visit, bringing
his bounce house, slide and train for the children to enjoy before showtime.
Each October, Henderson has one of the east coast's largest car shows; It is called:
The Show, Shine, Shag and Dine Car Show and we are the "official" cruise-in site for the event.

Fireworks are part of the evening events several times a year!

Owner Jim Kopp got to meet Richard Hollingshead III (son of the father of the drive-in)
at a drive-in owners convention in February 2007. Here he is presenting a lithograph of "Trunkin to The Moonlite"
to The Hollingsheads. -- Incidently, the lithograph picture shows the Moonlite Drive-in Theatre in Abingdon, VA (Virginia's
Oldest Operating Drive-in) Update: We have learned that Mr.
Hollingshead passed away in November of 2009.

You will see several classic Corbitt Trucks in attendance during the movie season.
These trucks were built right here in Henderson many years ago.
